1988-1992: Studies of mathematics at the TU Dresden and the TH Darmstadt

1992-1994: Ph.D. student at TH Darmstadt, Advisor: Prof. Dr. J. Hoschek.

1998: "Habilitation'' for mathematics at the TU Darmstadt.

1994-1995: research assistant at the Institute of mathematics of Darmstadt University of Technology

1995-1996: Postdoctoral research assistant at Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science der University of Dundee (Scotland), funded by the EU-HCM Project ``FAIRSHAPE''

1996-2000: postdoctoral research assistent at the Institute of mathematics of Darmstadt University of Technology (since 1998: Lecturer)

since October 2000: Professor of Mathematics at the Institute of Analysis (since January 2004: Institute of Applied Geometry) of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.
